Sealant

Sealants close joints, gaps and connections against water, air, vapour or heat. Painters, roofers, contractors and installers use them in new build and renovation, indoors and out.

Choose by the load on the joint. Acrylic painter's sealant, such as Tec7 Tecryl or Rectavit Recta-Mastic 90, fills gaps that will be painted afterwards. For water- and gas-tight connections there is Soudapack WST, and for joints that get wet Soudal Aquaswell, a polyurethane joint sealant that swells on contact with water. Bitumen sealant such as Soudafalt is for roof and foundation work. Heat-resistant sealant, such as Zwaluw Fire Sealant up to 1200°C or Soudal Calofer stove sealant, goes around stoves and flues. Kneadable sealant such as Teroson Terostat IX fills irregular joints in industry.

There are also air- and vapour-tight membranes such as Soudatight LQ for facade connections, and a wall injection cream from Tec7 against rising damp. Most sealants come in 310 ml cartridges for the caulking gun, larger quantities in buckets or tins. Soudal, Zwaluw, Teroson, Rectavit, Tec7 and more supply the range. Sealants belong to adhesives and sealants; to repair or cast rather than seal, turn to repair resin, polyester resin and epoxy resin.
